Disinformation, Defectors, and Digital Influence: Belarus’ Expanding Role in Information Warfare: The Polish Case

We recommend a new research article by Michal Krawczyk (Emerging Threats Observatory) which has been published on the evolving role of Belarus in Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI) affecting Poland. Released by IOS Press in Disinformation, Security, and Social Resilience (Volume 68) within the NATO Science for Peace and Security Series, the study examines how Belarus has become a more active and coordinated actor in regional influence operations, increasingly aligned with Russian strategic objectives.

The article analyses how state-linked media and online networks shape narratives for Polish audiences, including high-volume multimedia output, anonymous Telegram channels, and hybrid tactics that combine cyber activity with disinformation. The findings highlight growing cross-border coordination and reinforce the need for stronger, coordinated responses across Europe and NATO to protect democratic resilience in Central and Eastern Europe.
